Mastering is de laatste fase van de audio opname tot aan een cd. Hier vindt de laatste correctie en aanpassing plaats voor de cd in productie gaat.
De loudness/volume van de verschillende tracks wordt aangepast en ook de volgorde kan worden aangepast net als de ruimte tussen de stukken.
Titels en andere tekst informatie worden toegevoegd.
Het belangrijkste is dat een laatste raffinement aan het hele spectrum kan worden gecontroleerd en in kleur klank en dynamiek aangepast.
Tot slot worden de opnames omgezet van 96kHz 24 bit naar de cd norm van 44,1kHz 16 bit.

Mastering is the final phase in creating an audio CD. It comprises of final corrections and adjustments before the CD is handed in for production. Mastering is a multi-step process.
The loudness / volume of individual tracks are adjusted and the track-order as well as the spacing between the pieces can be adjusted
Other adjustments include the addition of track-titles and related information. A most important step in Mastering, that combines both technique and delicacy, is one of a final refinement wherein the colour, tone and dynamics are finely adjusted along the entire spectrum.
Finally, the recordings will be converted to 96kHz 24 bit CD standard of 44.1kHz 16 bit.
